The annual assembly was held in Dubrovnik on Saturday. The signing
of a national agreement would regulate the minimum social, working
and professional rights in all media on the national and local
levels, regardless of media size and ownership structure, it was
pointed out.
The trade union said signing the agreement was a priority for next
year and that negotiations with employers were underway.
The problems faced by journalists were also pointed out, especially
of those in small local media. Radio Sinj was singled out as the most
drastic example of violations of labour, social, and professional
human rights. Its employers have not received paycheques for ten
months and one employee, instead of a salary, was given a chanisaw.
