ZAGREB, June 3 (Hina) - The Radio and Television Council on Tuesday opened offers submitted by seven companies bidding to purchase a national television concession for the Croatian Television's (HTV) third network. #L# The offers are from Kutina-based "TV Moslavina", the "HMTM" company, the "Medijska kuca" company, the "Fina Mur" company, the "UCD distribucije" company, Rovinj-based "Rovita" and Zagreb- based "RTL" company. According to the law, the council will make a decision on granting the national TV concession by October. "TV Moslavina" is a company already in the TV production business and is the owner of Kutina's regional television, "NET". Foreign investors are behind most of the other bidders, although all companies which submitted their offers are registered in Croatia. Looking at the register of companies, it is evident that Hungarian businessmen Gyoergy Habsburg and Robert Prokopp are behind the HMTM company, while the founder of Medijska kuca is a Dutch media company, "CME". This company is present on the TV scene in neighbouring countries in transition, and has founded "POP TV" and "A Kanal" TV stations in Slovenia. The "Vecernji list" daily, a Scandinavian media company, "SBS", the Croatian Olympic Committee, the Croatian Musicians' Union and the Intel company invested joint capital and founded Fina Mur, which will, if it gets the concession, set up a channel named "Kanal 3". "CTV" will be the name of the new TV station which will be founded by Rovita, if this company get the concession. Behind Rovita are the Rovinj Tobacco Factory, Croatian Telecom and one of the most powerful media corporations in the world -- Rupert Murdock's "News Corporation". In the past several days media have been speculating that Rovita could get the concession, with the toughest opponent being Zagreb's RTL, founded by the German TV company of the same name and Croatian companies Agrokor, Podravka, Atlantic Group, HVB/Splitska Bank and Pinta TV. The council announced all bidders would be able to present their projects for 20 minutes each on June 12. (hina) lml sb
