because of pressure from the public opinion and the Church, and at the same time refuse to pay interior ministry officers and employees overtime put in in the past three years.

In the past three years, officers and employees at the interior
ministry have put in more than five million of overtime hours, for
which they received no compensation or days off as stipulated in the
Collective Agreement, SPH president Dubravko Jagic told a news
conference today.
Due to unpaid overtime, the union has filed over 5,000 lawsuits. It
estimates the government's debt to ministry employees at 300
million kuna (EUR40 million).
Final court judgements have been passed for some of these lawsuits
long ago, but the government is refusing to pay, Jagic said.
