RAVENNA, May 16 (Hina) - As a regional organisation, the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative is becoming one form of EU enlargement, Croatian parliament president Zlatko Tomcic said in Ravenna on Friday after a meeting of the Initiative's
parliament presidents.

Ionian Initiative is becoming one form of EU enlargement, Croatian
parliament president Zlatko Tomcic said in Ravenna on Friday after
a meeting of the Initiative's parliament presidents. #L#
Tomcic was pleased that the Adriatic-Ionian Highway project was
included in the final document of the Ravenna meeting at Croatia's
intervention.
"Our intervention was unanimously adopted, so we can say that this
highway has now been legislated in the EU," he said.
The third meeting of the Initiative's parliament speakers
addressed the role of parliaments in European integration
processes, combating organised crime, money laundering and illegal
trade, including trafficking in humans, drugs, arms, and toxic
waste.
The delegations which attended agreed as to the need of setting up a
European zone of freedom, security, and justice.
The Ravenna meeting ended with the conclusion that economic,
cultural, and inter-university cooperation must resume,
especially cooperation in environmental protection.
