The international association of former political prisoners is
comprised of 16 European former communist countries.
According to the assessment made at today's session, political
prisoners in Albania and Bulgaria are in the most unfavourable
position. Political prisoners in Croatia follow.
The president of the international association, Jure Knezovic, who
is also the president of the Croatian Society of Political
Prisoners, said that the association demanded that Communism be
proclaimed a criminal society, same as fascism, in order to prevent
communists to regain power, this time wearing the suits of social-
democrats.
Knezovic said that political prisoners in Croatia were often denied
human rights.
