Attempts to get accurate information as to General Gotovina's
whereabouts to date have proven unsuccessful so the interior
ministry decided to offer an award, a measure also used by other
countries, Racan told journalists after a closed-door government
meeting.
The interior ministry said today Minister Sime Lucin had decided to
offer a 350,000 kuna (EUR47,000) reward for information which would
help trace and arrest Gotovina.
Commenting on media claims about the wiretapping of Gotovina's
friends' phones, the PM reiterated law had been respected. "I can't
respond to every unfounded piece of information about the
wiretapping of phones which certainly weren't wiretapped."
The interior minister said a few days ago police were not bugging
the phones of even one person in any way related to Gotovina and that
no investigating judge's order had been issued for that.
