Four of the arrested foreigners were German citizens and one was an
Italian and it is assumed that they are part of an anti-
globalisation group, the head of the cabinet of the Zagreb police
chief, Krunoslav Borovec, told Hina.
He explained that the foreigners were with a group of about one
hundred people who tried to disturb festivities in the square
dedicated to Europe Day and organised by the Ministry for European
Integration.
The apprehended foreigners were taken to the First Police Precinct
where they will be detained until they appear before the
magistrate's court.
A spokeswoman for the said ministry, Ivana Grgic, told Hina that the
anti-globalist protesters did not hamper the celebration except
that they were vociferous expressing their opposition to the
country's plan to enter the EU.
