The organiser of the event, the Croatian European Integration
Ministry, said in a statement that this year's "Europe Week" was
especially important because "(Croatia) recently submitted an
application for full membership in the EU", which the EU's
competent bodies are already considering.
On the second day of "Europe Week", May 5, the day of the
establishment of the Council of Europe will be marked. Europe Day
will be marked on May 9, when in 1950 the Schuman Declaration was
issued, based on which the European community for coal and steel was
founded, which preceded today's European Union.
During the entire Europe Week, the ministry will hold its doors open
for all those interested in organised lectures. In capitals of
counties the week will be marked by public events, school
competitions and lectures.
