MOSTAR/DOLJANI, April 30 (Hina) - The customs administration of the
Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday formed a special
armed unit for the protection of customs officers, the head of the
customs administration, Zelimir Rebac, said. #L#
Rebac and the US Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Clifford Bond,
today visited a joint customs terminal on the border between Bosnia
and Croatia at Doljani near Metkovic.
Rebac called on the international community, the United States and
the public to support the federal customs administration as it was
unable to fight organised crime on its own.
He warned that the customs administration had discovered a fraud
worth several million convertible marks of customs duties and had
information on "mobsters preparing a counter-attack", which was
the reason for setting up the special unit.
