ZAGREB, April 29 (Hina) - After receiving the news about the death of General Janko Bobetko, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said on Tuesday that he had nothing to add to what had been reported by the media about the general's engagement in the anti-Fascist struggle during the Second World War and his participation in the recent Homeland Defence War. #L# The head of state declined to comment on an indictment issued by the prosecution of the UN war crimes tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) against the late general. "Now that he died, I would rather not comment on what Bobetko was blamed for. I always assume that a man is innocent until found guilty, and Gen. Bobetko must be treated in the same manner. Let all other things be part of history, and we must respect him for his merits," Mesic told reporters. President Mesic has forwarded a letter of condolence to the Bobetko family, the Office of the President of the Republic reported.
