ZAGREB, Apr 26 (Hina) - After several months of investigation, 17 people were escorted to the Rijeka County Court on Saturday on suspicion of involvement in the smuggling of people and illegal drugs, Croatia's interior ministry
said.

suspicion of involvement in the smuggling of people and illegal

Police have collected information pointing to the existence of a
criminal gang which over 2002 through April 25 this year is
suspected of having illegally transferred to Slovenia and Italy at
least 75 citizens from countries of the former Yugoslavia and
Albania, thus making a minimum EUR113,000.
Four of the 17 arrested today are also suspected of having been
involved in selling heroin. One kilo of the drug worth 15,000 euros
was seized during the investigation.
