HIP's president said he had spoken with the leaders of several
parties, including the Democratic Centre, Croatian Social Liberal
Party, Croatian Party of Rights, Croatian Pure Party of Rights, and
the Croatian Bloc, and that they were all open to cooperation. He
said he had also talked with the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ)
without which, he added, it was clear they would not be able to form
a ruling coalition.
"Our offer to the HDZ still stands, however, the HDZ still doesn't
seem willing to collaborate," Tudjman said. He added that it was up
to the HDZ to decide whether it wished to go along with other
opposition parties or with individual parties in the current ruling
coalition.
"If the parties founded on the ideas of Franjo Tudjman don't
united... then the opinion polls could be correct that only a third
of voters will participate in the elections."
