rights and changes to the law on local elections, it was stated at today's session of the county assembly.

County Assembly president Antun Velcl of the Croatian Social
Liberal Party said that according to the latest population census
the Serb minority made up 11.6% of the county's population and
therefore had the right to six seats in the assembly.
The head of the assembly's credentials commission, Milan Cutic,
reported that the assembly had seven minority deputies - four from
the Independent Democratic Serb Party and three from the Social
Democratic Party.
The assembly also passed a decision on changing the county statute
to include legal obligations concerning minority representation.
Of the 41 deputies in attendance, 34 voted for the bill, while seven
were against, these being members of the Croatian Party of Rights.
