voiced its opposition to the practice of separate schooling for
Croat and Bosniak children in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. #L#
A spokesman for OSCE's Mostar regional office, Richard Medic, said
that currently some 5,000 Bosniak and Croat pupils were taking
classes in schools which are dubbed "two schools under the same
roof". In these schools, he said, Croat and Bosniak students and
teachers often have no contact.
According to Medic, the OSCE Mission urges local authorities to
administratively join the separate schools and have such schools
registered as one legal subject, with one principal, a multiethnic
management board and teacher-parent councils.
