ZAGREB, April 15 (Hina) - The newly-appointed management board of
the Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP) on Tuesday decided that the
"Vrbovec" agricultural and processing plant should be privatised
in two phases, which it would suggest to the government. #L#
The management board's chairman, Economy Minister Ljubo Jurcic,
said Vrbovec would be privatised without a classic tender, in two
phases. In the first phase, non-binding offers will be collected,
after which a list of binding offers will be drawn up.
This model has been proposed because the state is the direct owner
of more than 91% of shares in the plant. The model will make it
possible to find a better buyer than if bids were invited, it was
said.
The HFP accepted an offer by the Generalturist tourist company to
purchase the shares of the "Srebreno" Hotel in Mlini near
Dubrovnik. The board stressed that before a contract was drawn up,
negotiations on refinancing the company should be held.
The board decided to transfer the shares of 347 companies, in most
of which the state owns up to ten percent of shares, from the Zagreb
Stock Exchange to the Varazdin Stock Exchange so that they could
trade in entitlements.
At board member Slavko Linic's suggestion, "Jadran" hotels in Ploce
and "Supetar" hotels were excluded from the list, as the government
owns 38% and 30% of their shares.
The board decided not to sell 50% of the "Skolska knjiga" publishing
company, estimated at 139,500 kuna (EUR18,500), but transfer them
to employees.
Since conditions from a contract on the purchase of 60.46% of shares
of the "Split" hotel have not been met and the agreed price has not
been paid within the requested time, the HFP annulled the decision
on the sale of the company to the British company "Travelink
Investment". The board committed the HFP to prepare a new bid.
According to available information, the members of the new
management board should at tonight's closed part of the session
discuss the privatisation of the Slobodna Dalmacija media company.
Minister Jurcic said that "there are enough foreigners owning the
media in Croatia".
