According to a statement issued by the parliament's public
relations office, parliament vice president Zdravko Tomac pointed
out that Croatia's objective was to become a member of the EU in
2007.
Durrieu responded that Croatia was still not being mentioned along
with Bulgaria and Romania as a candidate in the second round of
expansion of the EU.
Tomac informed his guest of progress in Croatia's economy,
legislature as well as of the return of 98,000 Serb refugees to
Croatia.
He pointed to a great problem of the impossibility of displaced
Croats to return to Republika Srpska, the press release said.
The press release further added that Mirjana Feric Vac, the head of
the parliament's delegation to the Council of Europe's
Parliamentary Assembly spoke to her guest about the work of that
delegation. There was also reference to the situation in the media
and refugee returns.
Josette Durrieu said that Croatia had made progress but that it
still needed support to be the first in the region to access the EU.
