TALLINN, April 6 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic will
commence his two-day official visit to Estonia on Monday with talks
with his Estonian counterpart Arnold Rueuetel. #L#
Major topic of Mesic's talks with President Rueuetel and other
Estonian top officials will be bilateral relations, the experience
of that Baltic country in bids to come closer to the European Union
and NATO, the situation in the Baltic region and south-eastern
Europe and the developments surrounding the war in Iraq.
Mesic's trip to Estonia, which was among first countries to
recognise Croatia in late 1991, is the first official visit of a
Croatian head of state to Tallinn.
The two countries have so far signed six bilateral agreements.
Their bilateral trade amounts to moderate three million dollars.
Estonia, one of the leading countries in transition, has been
invited to join NATO, and it will sign an agreement on entering the
EU in Athens on 16 April.
President Mesic is to wrap up his first official visit to Latvia
today.
