"We have arrested some people who are suspected of the Ovcara crime.
We hope that that war crime will be processed by our courts, and the
role of Veselin Sljivancanin in it is to be established in an
investigation, i.e. by a prosecutor," Mihajlovic told the press in
Smederevo after almost 4,000 pieces of arms and 42,000 pieces of
ammunition, handed over to police by Serbian citizens in recent
weeks, were destroyed in a smelting plant.
The minister added that no major crime would remain uninvestigated
in the operation "Sabre", conducted within an investigation into
the murder of Serbian Premier Zoran Djindjic.
The investigation covers all those who are suspected of having
participated in preparing and carrying out criminal acts
regardless of their posts or party membership, the minister said.
Mihajlovic's words have been confirmed with the arrest of a former
Yugoslav Army Chief-of-Staff, Nebojsa Pavkovic, who is suspected
of having approved the use of an army helicopter for the transport
of members of the "Zemun mobster clan" after an attempt on the life
of Serbian politician Vuk Draskovic in Budva in June 2000.
"Once the investigation is completed, everybody will know what this
is about," Mihajlovic said.
