IDS is open for possible cooperation with the Social Democrats
(SDP), Croatian People's Party (HNS), Liberal Party (LS) and
Croatian Peasant Party (HSS). From the next government the IDS
expects a stronger decentralisation, strengthening of the local
administration and self-government and Croatia's full membership
in the European Union in 2007.
"The strategy of the IDS is to create a situation which will make it
impossible for the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the rightist
parties to return to power because of their anti-European policy,"
said Jakovcic.
The incumbent coalition government's error which could blow back in
its face at the next election is indecisiveness and reluctance in
implementing reforms and in making important decisions for the
country's development.
Croatia's complete democratisation is success in which great steps
were made towards the European Union and NATO with a shy, yet
evident economic growth, Jakovcic said.
