parliament. #L#
"It is pointless to 'grab' a word during a parliamentary session in
an informal way contrary to the Rule Book and disturb the public,"
Trconic said at a news conference.
The Rule Book is clear, a person chairing the session is obliged to
give information at the request of MPs, but not during the session
so as not to obstruct the work of the ongoing session, Trconic
explained, responding to Loncar's accusations that Sabor President
Zlatko Tomcic failed to observe the Rule Book when he ruled, Ljubo
Cesic Rojs, a deputy of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) out of
order, when he tried to speak about an issue which was not relevant
to the topic that was being debated at the time.
Trconic said Loncar had not insulted him when labelling him as an
long-standing member of the former Socialist Yugoslav's secret
service (UDBA), but this saddened Trconic as it was said by an MP who
won the seat while standing the elections on a slate of the HSS, the
HSS whip explained.
Trconic rebutted Loncar's accusations, describing them as lies and
nonsense, and recalled that he was an activist of the 1971 Croatian
Spring, and that due to the politics at the time he left a job of a
judge and became a lawyer.
Although he was not invited, Loncar arrived at the news conference.
After Trconic's departure, Loncar stuck to his accusations of
Tomcic (HSS President) claiming that on Wednesday Tomcic had
violated the Rule Book when he did not allow MP Cesic Rojs to
continue speaking about the espionage and security issue -- the
topic which was not being considered at that time.
"Tomcic was again haughty and arrogant and I had to behave like him
as this was what he could only understand. All what happened was
caused by Tomcic and Loncar is only a consequence, as I cannot allow
any more of his haughty and primitive behaviour which he has been
used to in the parliament and the HSS," Loncar asserted.
Asked whether he would apologise to Trconic for having labelled him
as a former Yugoslav secret agent, Loncar said he would not do so.
"Whenever you want I can speak about Trconic in 1971 and 1972 when he
was a deputy prosecutor in Bjelovar where people were tried and
sentenced for voicing their opinion," Loncar added.
