The Embassy's public relations office said that the meeting was
held at the request of premier Racan. In longer, friendly and open
talks there was reference to the main points of bilateral relations
where agreement exists as well as stances regarding the Iraqi
conflict on which the two countries do not agree, the Embassy's
public relations office told Hina.
The US expects partnership relations to continue between the two
countries, particularly in the global fight against terrorism and
co-operation in international efforts to reconstruct Iraq
following the conflict, the US Embassy said.
Sources in the Croatian government informed that there were no new
demands by the US with regard to military action in Iraq.
Before the beginning of the war in Iraq, the Croatian government
decided to allow the US use its air space only for civil aircraft.
The same source in the Croatian Government said that during the
meeting, Premier Racan and Ambassador Rossin explained stances
that have recently been released in the media.
Ambassador Rossin told the latest issue of the Globus weekly that
Croatia could expect repercussions in its relations with the US
because of its attitude towards Iraq.
