BELGRADE, March 12 (Hina) - The president of the Serbian parliament and acting Serbian President, Natasa Micic, on Wednesday afternoon signed an act imposing a state of emergency in the country, Belgrade's Radio B92 reported.

Micic signed the act at the suggestion of the Serbian government.
The government made the decision to proclaim a state of emergency at
a special session held after the assassination of Prime Minister
Zoran Djindjic. At 1.30pm today Djindjic succumbed to wounds after
being shot while he was entering the government building.
