"A possible war in Iraq will strengthen all forms of radicalism,
including terrorism, and Croatia must remain stable and avoid any
conflicts, crises and elections, regardless of party disputes,"
Tomac said at a meeting of the party's Zagreb branch on Saturday.
He added that the SDP had to take the lead in the process of
unification.
Croatia will not be able to use the opportunity to join the European
Union in the next expansion round in 2007 if it is not stable, he
said.
Commenting on relations within the party, Tomac said they were much
better than the media were trying to present them.
Speaking about cooperation with the Croatian People's Party (HNS),
the SDP's coalition partner in Zagreb since May 2000, the president
of the SDP Zagreb branch, Milan Bandic, said the HNS was the SDP's
only and best partner and the SDP had to cooperate with it.
