conference held in Belgrade on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Serbia and
Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Bulgaria,
Romania, Turkey, and Greece. Croatia had the status of an observer.
After the conference, the participants issued a joint statement
saying that the liberalisation of the visa regime would help the
region's drawing closer to Europe.
The coordinator for the Stability Pact for Southeast Europe, Erhard
Busek, told reporters the enhnacement of bilateral cooperation
would create a channel for approaching the European Union. He asked
of the countries in the region to find a way to liberalise the visa
regime.
