Referring to an article in one of Croatia's dailies which says that
forty Croat families in Donji Lapac have to immediately vacate
houses they have been temporarily occupying, Pejkovic said that he
had no knowledge of this.
There are currently 55 occupied residential units in Donji Lapac.
The owners of 38 have submitted applications for property
restitution and one family was issued with an eviction notice
because they are illegally living in someone else's house, he
said.
He confirmed that alternative accommodation was being sought for
the remaining families via the Agency for the Transfer of Real
Estate (APN) and through the reconstruction of apartments in Donji
Lapac.
The owners will get their property or receive compensation while
temporary occupants will be put in alternate accommodation and no-
one will end up in the street, Pejkovic stressed.
