After talks which Foreign Minister Tonino Picula held with his
Greek counterpart Georgios Papandreou, whose country is presiding
over the EU, and at which the Croatian minister was informed of the
protest note of 4 February, the Croatian Foreign Ministry expressed
the full agreement with the EU Presidency's demand forwarded to
Baghdad.
Croatia is sharing the concern of the international community over
the Iraqi crisis, although at the moment Zagreb cannot take direct
part in the adoption of the protest note, because of its current
status, read the ministry's statement.
The protest note forwarded to Iraqi missions in Athens, Brussels
and New York, points to the fact that time, which was given to Iraq
pursuant to UN Resolution 1441 has passed and that country has to
immediately and unconditionally accept all conditions set on it.
Croatia, as a UN member, regards that all countries which are part
of the World Organisation, must honour all of its decisions with the
aim of building peace and stability in all parts of the world. The
ministry reiterated that Croatia also advocated that possible
disputes should be solved in a peaceful manner.
