Fatmir Limaj is in the ICTY detention unit, spokesman Christian
Chartier told Hina.
Limaj should appear in court on Wednesday when he is expected to
enter his plea, Chartier added.
Fatmir Limaj is the most senior official from a group of former
Kosovo Liberation Army members indicted by the ICTY for war crimes
committed by ethnic Albanians in Kosovo. Limaj is indicted for
crimes against humanity and the violation of the laws and customs of
war.
According to the indictment, at least 35 Serbs and Albanian
civilians were detained in the KLA detention camp in Lapusnik, near
Glogovac in 1999 in cruel and inhumane conditions. The Lapusnik
camp was under Limaj's command.
The closest associate of former Kosovo Liberal Army head Hashim
Thaqi, Limaj, is also the president of the bench of the Democratic
Party of Kosovo. He was arrested in February in Slovenia's Kranjska
Gora.
