Oesterreich launched a humanitarian action on channels of his radio
station "Sudwestrundfunk" in Stuttgart, and thus gathered over
nine million German marks used for the construction of a home for
children with special needs in Brezovica, outside Zagreb. This
institution of Caritas was opened in 1994 and is currently offering
accommodation for some 130 children aged between three and 21.
Vidovic thanked the German journalist for his donations and his
efforts aimed at promoting Croatia on the international scene.
Oesterreich, who grew up in post-war Germany, said he dedicated his
professional work to social themes, the needs of poverty-stricken
people and children and war-ravaged areas.
