Cantonal prosecutor Mustafa Bisic was quoted by the Sarajevo media
on Thursday as saying that Jelavic as well as the Federation's
former defence minister, Miroslav Prce, and former defence
minister assistant, Ivan Medic, were suspected of the abuse of
office and involvement in illegal business dealings of the Mostar-
based "Hercegovacka Bank".
According to data collected by the Sarajevo cantonal prosecution,
Jelavic, Prce and Medic used funds, which Zagreb earmarked as the
financial assistance for the Croat component in the federal defence
sector, for the purpose of enormously high housing loans.
The loans were offered through the said bank, and there are
indications that there were 105 transactions of such kinds.
A sum which was thus misused totals 6.185 million convertible marks
(approximately three million euros)
Jelavic is suspected of having embezzled some 650,000 convertible
marks, Medic is believed to have embezzled almost four millions,
and Prce 1.619 million.
Prosecutor Bisic said this was a part of a complex investigation
into the Hercegovacka Bank case.
