"I don't feel for Milosevic, but he is innocent with regard to
charges concerning Krajina and I felt the obligation to defend an
innocent man," Vasiljkovic said. He added that the prosecution of
the U.N. war crimes tribunal "could have proven all war crimes in a
month, if it wanted to, but it wanted to bring people to testify
against Milosevic".
The tribunal's prosecution rewards witnesses who testify against
Milosevic and punishes those with whom it is dissatisfied,
Vasiljkovic said, adding that when he approached the prosecutor
after his testimony to ask to be paid a plane ticket to return to
Belgrade, the prosecutor told him he did not want to have anything
to do with him any more.
