Steiner rejected announcements by Serbs in northern Kosovo that
they would form a community of Serb municipalities in Kosovo. He
said such announcements were unfounded.
Commenting on a statement by Serbian Deputy Premier Nebojsa Covic
that persons who killed one policeman and injured two others in
Muhovac on Sunday were hiding in Kosovo, Steiner said that the UNMIK
had not been officially notified of the incident.
The Belgrade based Beta news agency reported on Monday that
Albanian guerrillas, the Albanian National Army, had on Monday
assumed responsibility for the attack on a vehicle belonging to
local Serb police in which one policeman was killed and two others
wounded in the south of Serbia, on Sunday.
