visited the Sabac-Valjevo eparchy.

and Montenegro, the Vatican's secretary for foreign affairs, Jean
Louis Tauran, on Wednesday met with the head of the Serb Orthodox
Church, Patriarch Pavle, and visited the Sabac-Valjevo eparchy.

The Catholic and Orthodox churches have to cooperate so that
European Union documents might incorporate Christian roots and
European values, the two dignitaries said after the talks.
The values of Christian civilisation have to provide the basis for
the organisation of Serbia and Montenegro, they added.
Cardinal Tauran said Pope John Paul would endorse and contribute to
the integration of Serbia and Montenegro into the EU.
Yesterday Tauran was received by Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic
and President Vojislav Kostunica.
