"We cannot live one without another, and certainly not one against
another," said Tauran after the talks. He added that "peoples in
this region are about to face a cleansing of memories, in which the
Catholic and Orthodox churches play a crucial role".
"On this occasion, the meeting with Tauran was scheduled during a
time in which we are facing different temptations, primarily in the
creation of a new union of Serbia and Montenegro, cooperation with
the (U.N. war crimes) tribunal in The Hague, as well as with
challenges of (determining) the final status of Kosovo," said the
foreign minister, and announced that Tauran would meet senior
officials of the Serb Orthodox Church later in the day.
