ZAGREB, Feb 19 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Judges' Association (UHS), Vladimir Gredelj, on Wednesday sued the leader of the New Union, Mario Ivekovic, for his claims regarding the "Croatia bus case". #L# Gredelj claims that Ivekovic's statements about the case constitute an open attack on the legal order and contain all elements of the criminal act of coercion of judicial officials and instigation to disregard the lawful decisions of state bodies and disrespect for official persons. Claiming that he wants to protect the legal order and the dignity of the judicial profession, Gredelj requests that Chief State Prosecutor Mladen Bajic establish if there is founded suspicion that Ivekovic committed the said acts. The Zagreb Municipal Court last week passed a ruling under which the workers of the Croatia bus transport company, who have been protesting on and off for more than two months, have to unblock the company's premises as they are trespassing. Ivekovic, who represents the disgruntled workers, replied that "rulings passed by corrupt judges are not binding for the workers". The Independent Union of Science and Higher Education has voiced disagreement with Gredelj's statement and supported Ivekovic's claims about corruption in the judiciary. "The situation in the judiciary is unsustainable and it is not Ivekovic's truthful statements but a lack of responsibility on the part of judges and politicians that pose a threat to the society," the union said.
