The government will debate Sisak Ironworks on Thursday, by which
time it will analyse the situation and hold talks with possible
partners again, insisting that an adequate contract replace the
contract which was offered and signed but which the government
cannot strengthen with its acts, Racan told Croatian Radio.
He recalled that the government had not participated in the sale of
the company until now, and that it had only given some instructions
through Economy Minister Ljubo Jurcic (on the unacceptability of
the company being purchased without bank guarantees).
He said the government would not make the same mistake as when the
company had been sold to the Russian-Austrian Trubo Impex company.
Asked about the privatisation of the oil company INA, Racan said the
sale of 25% plus one INA share would be conducted in a transparent
manner.
He voiced hope that during the process INA would demonstrate
interest to participate in the same way in the ownership structure
of its partner. "This is a good idea if one wants to join forces and
be a factor on the regional oil market and in order to do that, one
should not settle only for sale. The quality of partnership
relations is what matters and it is at the highest level if the
companies are mutual co-owners," Racan said.
