MOSTAR, Feb 17 (Hina) - The re-trial of four Bosnian Croats from
Mostar, indicted for war crimes against Bosniaks in 1993 began at
the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Court in Mostar on Monday. #L#
The trial of Zeljko Djidic, Mate Anicic, Ivan Skutor and Erhard
Pozanic was renewed after the Bosnian Federation's Supreme Court
overturned a verdict acquitting the four two years ago.
The Croats are indicted for war crimes against Bosniaks during the
Croat-Muslim conflict in Bosnia in 1993. The U.N. war crimes
tribunal allowed the cantonal court to try their case several years
ago.
The panel of judges on Monday accepted the defence's move and
released the four from custody on bail set at 10,000 convertible
marks (approx. EUR5,000). They also had to turn in their passports
to the court.
The trial continues on March 17.
