Opposition parties voted against the bill, as did the Democratic
Party of Serbia headed by Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica.
Under the law on the implementation of the constitutional charter
of the new Serbia-Montenegro union, he is obliged to call the first
indirect elections for the new joint parliament within five days of
the adoption of the election law.
Under the law adopted today, mandates for future representatives to
the parliament of Serbia and Montenegro will be divided among
parties and coalitions in proportion to the number of their benches
in Serbia's parliament.
The future joint parliament will consist of 91 members from Serbia
and 35 from Montenegro.
The Montenegrin parliament adopted the law on the indirect election
of representatives to the joint parliament by a majority vote today
as well.
