OSIJEK, Feb 13 (Hina) - Zlatko Kramaric, a vice-president of the
Liberal Party (LS), has said his party will request significant
changes to decision-making and the government of the ruling
coalition and "consider whether there is any reason to stay in the
coalition". #L#
Kramaric told reporters in Osijek on Thursday that the way the
coalition functioned rather than personal relations was the reason
for such decisions.
The party official said the LS had warned that bilateral meetings
between some coalition partners put other partners in an
underprivileged position. Such conduct culminated with
Wednesday's meeting which was not attended by representatives of
the LS and the Croatian People's Party (HNS), he said.
Stating that without Libra, the LS and the HNS the coalition would
not be able to keep the majority in parliament, Kramaric said the
coalition had lost credibility and could check it exclusively at
elections.
He stated that the LS's Main Committee would decide about the
party's staying in the coalition.
Party MP Tibor Santo said the LS would request that a bill on changes
to the Labour Act be discussed in the public before it was debated in
parliament. The government-sponsored bill gives rise to doubts as
to whether workers' rights are adequately protected because it does
not include any mechanisms of compensation which would arise from
other parts of the social legislation, he said.
