The three-year-long rule of the coalition government has resulted
in a record-high unemployment rate, an increased state debt and,
according to the Financial Times, a nine-percent decrease in
purchasing power, Sanader said at an event marking the 13th
anniversary of the party's branch in Zagreb's suburb of Dubrava.
Croatia is farther away from NATO than it was three years ago,
claims the HDZ leader.
He dismissed the possibility of his party forming a coalition with
the Social Democrats or the Croatian People's Party, stating that
the HDZ would form coalitions only with parties of a similar
political orientation.
A party vice-president, Jadranka Kosor, dismissed claims that the
party was falling apart.
