Italian General Fabio Mini, who is the Kosovo Force (KFOR) chief
commander, was quoted by the Free Europe Radio as saying that the
re-deployment of Serbian forces to Kosovo was an issue of a
political rather than practical nature.
According to him, UN Security Council Resolution 1244 does envisage
the return of a part of Serbian forces, but the decision on the
matter cannot be made by Belgrade.
Serbian Premier Zoran Djindjic recently sent a letter to the
Security Council asking for the return of Serbian security forces
to Kosovo.
