The presidency's chairman, Mirko Sarovic, told reporters that the
Bosnian state leadership favoured a peaceful resolution of the
Iraqi crisis following the principles of the UN Charter and by
peaceful means.
"The crisis should be settled through the implementation of the UN
Security Resolution preserving peace and stability in the world,"
the Serb member of the Bosnian presidency added.
Bosnia also expects of Iraq to unconditionally cooperate with UN
inspectors and fully honour UN Security Council Resolution 1441.
The Bosnian presidency's chairman also dismissed allegations that
a conflict of opinions had appeared in Bosnian state bodies when
trying to define their official stand on the Iraqi crisis.
The Bosniak (Muslim) member of the presidency, Sulejman Tihic,
earlier said state authorities had no stand on the matter and that
there had been no basis for a statement which the country's foreign
ministry released supporting the U.S. State Secretary Colin
Powell's speech before the Security Council.
"Tihic spoke about the issue in principle, the foreign ministry's
statement was a part of its regular activities," Sarovic said
adding that "there might have been some unclear things but there was
no misunderstanding".
