MUNICH: DISCUSSION OF EU ROLE IN PREVENTION OF CRISES DISCONTINUED

MUNICH, Feb 8 (Hina) - One of consequences of the bad organisation of an international security conference in Munich was delays in the tight schedule of the event. As a result, a discussion in which Croatian Foreign Minister should have taken part, was abruptly discontinued on Saturday evening.#L# Foreign Minister Tonino Picula was on a list of participants in the discussion on the role of the European Union foreign and security policy in the crisis prevention and management. After the EU High Representative for foreign affairs and security, Javier Solana, held his speech, the organiser announced that there would be no more discussion on the topic. They justified their decision with the delays in the programme and some obligations of other participants who had already left Munich. Croatia's delegation at the conference, that includes Defence Minister Zeljka Antunovic, besides Picula, will leave the German city this evening. The two-day conference is to resume tomorrow with debates on the situation in the Near East and Persian Gulf. (hina) ms
