The visit is part of a tour of EU countries of the highest state
officials who have been lobbying for the support of European
capitals to Croatia's application for full EU membership, to be
submitted in Athens on February 18.
Diplomatic efforts to secure support for the EU candidacy have been
joined by President Stjepan Mesic, Prime Minister Ivica Racan and
European Integration Minister Neven Mimica, who during January and
February have been touring European capitals as well.
Minister Picula, who last week visited several European capitals,
said that European officials had supported Croatia's application,
but "the application itself does not reduce the list of our
international obligations".
