ZAGREB, Feb 6 (Hina) - The government on Thursday decided to increase the wages of health system employees and endorsed wage bonuses in the amount of five to 20 percent, depending on work conditions.

increase the wages of health system employees and endorsed wage
bonuses in the amount of five to 20 percent, depending on work

The government also endorsed the text of a collective agreement for
the health system. According to Health Minister Andro Vlahusic, the
agreement is based on the preservation of the gained rights and the
promotion of the status and material position and work conditions
for all employees in the health sector.
The gained rights are preserved and the agreement includes all
specific characteristics of the profession, the minister claims.
After one year, the health ministry and four health unions managed
to agree on a draft collective agreement, which includes motions by
the Croatian Doctors' Union.
The agreement will enable a wage rise for an increased scope of
duties amounting to up to 20 percent, said Vlahusic who has been
authorised by the government to sign the agreement with the health
unions.
With regard to the doctors' strike, Prime Minister Ivica Racan
called a meeting with representatives of health associations with
an aim to end "this entirely unacceptable situation for citizens,
as well as health employees".
The meeting, which is scheduled for Friday, will tackle the topic:
"Doctors and Health Protection of Croatian citizens".
