the government should reconsider its decision to sell the Suncani
Hvar chain of hotels if reports that new elements and facts have
come up should prove true, as some claim. #L#
"If there are new elements and facts, it is certainly better to re-
examine the decision," Mesic said in an interview with Croatian
Radio.
Asked if the Croatian Peasant Party had made an ultimatum by
demanding that the government revoke its decision on the
privatisation of the hotel company, Mesic said parties' meddling in
the government's work should be prevented.
"If somebody (a party which is a member of the government) does not
agree with the government programme and believes the government is
acting contrary to the agreed policy, that should be solved within
the government, and if this can't be done, one should leave the
government."
"I am against the resolution of certain issues by those who are not
authorised to deal with them," Mesic said, reiterating that open
issues had to be solved by the competent institutions -- in this
case the government, and not a co-ordinating body of the ruling
coalition.
Asked to comment on the situation in the air force, in the wake of
newspaper headlines about the dissatisfaction of pilots with their
salaries, Mesic said Croatian citizens could rest assured that all
segments of defence were functioning properly.
He also expressed hope that the ongoing strike of doctors would end
successfully and added that both sides in the dispute had to take
into account the economic situation Croatia was in.
