selling the Suncani Hvar hotel chain to Slovenia's Terme Catez
company. #L#
"The selling of national heritage which is being carried out by this
government in which, unfortunately, worn out politicians dominate,
deserves condemnation," Luksic told reporters.
He asked whether anybody in the government was following "the
aggressing profiteering of Slovene companies" and their purchases
in Croatia. He also asked about reciprocity, that is, whether
Slovenia allowed Croatian companies to enter into its country.
Luksic's deputy, Josko Kovac, said he did not accept the
government's decision on selling Suncani Hvar.
Officials of the Croatian Party of Rights have accused the Croatian
People's Party of "political hypocrisy", because it opposed the
government's decision only after an atmosphere against the selling
of the company had been created on Hvar Island.
"By selling a chain of ten hotels with land to one buyer, the
government is establishing a monopoly in the offer of tourist
services and taking authority away from local communities. Since
this is a buyer from Slovenia, it is also taking away Hvar from
Croatia," the Croatian Bloc party has said.
