ZAGREB, Jan 4 (Hina) - The Croatian Disabled Persons' Association
on Tuesday demanded the immediate discontinuation of a doctors'
strike and stressed that disabled workers needed permanent
enhanced medical assistance. #L#
Pointing to the doctors on strike that they brought into question
their code and oath, the association said in a statement that
despite low pensions, a large number of 237,000 disabled workers
paid additional health insurance which they could not benefit from
due to the current situation.
The association said it did not wish to debate on the legitimacy of
doctors' demands and stressed that more than 187,000 disabled
workers received average pensions amounting to 1,438 kuna, while
35,000 received only 966 kuna per month.
