ZAGREB, Jan 30 (Hina) - At the closed part of Thursday's session the
Croatian government concluded that it would not pay teachers and
doctors for time spent on strike. #L#
Based on Article 214 of the Labour Act, the government concluded it
would not pay employees for time spent on a strike in primary
schools on January 13 and 14, a strike in secondary schools on
January 15, and the doctors strike which began on January 15.
Employees who observed the strikes in primary and secondary schools
will be paid the amount that will be deducted from the salary for
January within 15 days after they have worked out what they failed
to do during the strike, in line with decisions to be made by school
principals.
As for doctors, the possibility and model of paying back the
deducted salary amounts for time spent on strike will be considered
once the strike has ended and the backlog worked out.
