ZAGREB, Jan 30 (Hina) - There will be no negotiations between the
Health Ministry and the Croatian Doctors' Union (HLS) on Thursday,
because everything has been agreed and there is nothing else to
negotiate, Health Minister Andro Vlahusic said ahead of a
government session. #L#
The government agrees to a ten-percent increase in doctors' pays,
which means that with bonuses for special work conditions, doctors'
pays would increase by 6-22 percent. #L#
The government is also ready to analyse coefficients and correct
all injustices, but it cannot accept a union request for a 45
percent pay increase.
Vlahusic says he is ready to address the union's entire strike
committee which, according to the HLS, will meet on Saturday.
"I am ready to explain the government's offer to all doctors," the
minister said and added that he had proposed to the Croatian
Doctors' Chamber and other health organisations to convene a
meeting which would discuss this issue.
Today the government will endorse a decision on not paying doctors
for the time spent on strike.
Hospital chiefs of staff will be in charge of implementing the
government's decision, because they know which doctors took part in
the strike.
