Bank at the end of last year reached a record-high amount of US$5.9

The central bank managed to pay off all of the loans and settle its
obligations towards the International Monetary Fund in December
2002. The settlement of the debts and obligations did not reflect on
the state of net foreign currency reserves which at the end of last
year amounted to US$4.7 billion, with an annual increase of US$1.2
billion, read the central bank's report on financial and economic
movements.
Commercial banks' foreign currency reserves in late November 2002
amounted to more than US$2.8 billion.
